Limited time post. I was getting too self conscious having such close-ups of me and so LARGE. Yikes.
The post without a title April 19, 2008
The past 9 months I have loved many things about Iowa. Others not so much. One of my favorite things is the drive from where we live to where Zac goes to school. It is about a 15 minute drive with a small stretch of country where we routinely see cows and horses, and occasionally deer. We have on several occasions seen dozens of deer in a large field where ponies and horses are usually grazing. If you think that is hard to believe wait until you see what kind of wildlife I spotted right outside our patio door.

You wouldn’t be mistaken if your first thought was dangerous lion. I could barely believe my eyes. At first I chalked it up to being senile (I did just have a birthday) but then I took a picture, and camera’s don’t lie. Of course I was afraid for my children – who wouldn’t be with a hungry lion prowling around?! I took matters into my own hands and decided to feed the big feline so it wouldn’t be so inclined to go after my children.

The crazy thing is, this lion likes fruit and lots of it. ! Even more crazy, I don’t know where Sophia went during this whole ordeal.
On another note – we had lots of fun this weekend playing outside, doing crafts, and going to a garage sale.
Friday nights aren’t what they used to be before kids. There is a line from one of Andrew Peterson’s songs called “Family Man” that resonates with me though: “This is not what I was headed for when I began, this was not my plan . . . so much better than”. This Friday we stayed in and worked on a craft with the girls. What better craft for our two princesses than crowns with a little bling.
Designed by Daddy:

Designed by Sophia, with help from Mommy:

The girls loved their crowns, but I have to say, Zac got in some time wearing one too this morning. Sorry no picture. He really did. In the car. On our way to a garage sale, where we got this for $40.

Isn’t it purdy?! I thought it was a steal for being all wood (no particle board here). I think we will keep it in the kitchen.
And last but certainly not least, my wonderful little “BuBu”:
“Wassuuuuuup?!”

Just in at the Hensley household. This picture was just taken moments ago.

Summer Fun April 15, 2008
Well it’s not summer yet, but we dream about it everyday. Iowa is not letting up on the cold here. Even when the temperature is somewhat acceptable, think 50 degrees, it is windy and feels colder. The sun is really shy here too. This hasn’t stopped us from thinking and dreaming of warmer days, though.
Yesterday we went to Kohl’s and got the girls some sunglasses. I had some coupons so I got a really good deal. The girls, especially Sophia, are smitten with their new glasses – Sophia is even wearing hers right now. Indoors.
Take a look.

Sophia picked out her own sunglasses. Isn’t she pretty stylin’.

That’s not the only thing she picked out. She is getting to that age where she has preferences about what she wears – very particular preferences.

Yup, I let her out of the house like that. It means I have to let go of my pride and be okay with the fact that some people may think it was my idea to put fuzzy multi-colored socks with sparkly ballerina flats. I am okay with that. I am so okay with it I took pictures and a closeup.

Fun times.
Revolution Money Exchange April 12, 2008
Paypal has some competition. Steve Case, co-founder of AOL, and a few other rich people have started a company called “Revolution Money Exchange”. It is similar to paypal but they do not charge a fee for transactions (I believe paypal charges 3%). To promote their company they are offering to credit new account holders with $25. They also give you $10 for every person you refer. My first thought was “this must be a scam”, but I have done some googling and it seems to be legit. Many people have reported having made money off of this so I signed up too. The deal is only good until April 15th.
Just click on the link above, take a few minutes to sign up and within 24 hours your account will be credited with $25.
Zac, these are your girls April 4, 2008
Do you remember this? Our first trip to Savannah and Sophia with the haircut I don’t want to mention the name of. Ok, ok. Zac called it the Lloyd Christmas. Don’t ask me, just google it if you are a decent person and haven’t seen the movie to which he refers.

Do you remember this sweet thing? I think she was only about 6 months old here. Little did we know the fire in her little personality.

Today we went to the Children’s Museum and went shopping. Take a glimpse of your daughter. I think she was shopping for you. She didn’t just take one or two cookies – she took the whole plate.

And dumped it in her cart.

She must have had carb-guilt or something, because later I caught her doing this.
Recycling a french loaf.
Anywho. We miss you! Can’t wait to see you tomorrow night!
This one is for Zac April 3, 2008
We miss you a whole bunch. We said goodbye to you about 9 hours ago and are already wishing you were home. Here is the picture we took before we left for the airport.

This morning was a little hectic but fun. We (I mean I – since it appears Zac knew all along) recently discovered the whereabouts of our camera – so we got some good pictures of some fun here this morning.
First, is our dear Sophia. My first thought when I saw this picture was of a movie star, incognito. It’s not just the glasses, but that look – you know, the “Don’t take my picture” look.

The next picture has a little story to go with it. This morning while we were getting Zac ready the girls wanted to go outside to play. Ellie has a blue/purple jacket and Sophia wanted a blue jacket too. Zac went to assist her – and of course fulfilled her request to wear this number. Before she came around the corner he warned “don’t laugh”.
Kinda reminds me of the line from Tommy Boy “Fat guy in a little coat”. The only reason I know that line is because I am married to Zac (whose mother claims he has an extra lobe in his brain just for movie dialogue), and the only reason I got it right was because I googled it. Now – I am not saying Sophia is fat – not at all – but the coat was a few sizes too small. And I did laugh. Out loud. A lot. Poor little Sophia does not like to be laughed at so the coat didn’t last but a few minutes.
This last one is a good-night picture. Of course our girls don’t sleep in the same bed, so that explains Ellie’s look of bewilderment.

Good night Daddy – we’ll miss you. Saturday evening won’t come fast enough!
